11.01.06 Profile update:
Yes,
still married (to Shelley). Coming up for 18 years August 2006.
Still reside in Oakden SA. Retired from truck driving.
Spent some
time working for Phoenix Society (at their satellite division within
Electrolux Spare Parts at Woodville North SA) acting as Supervisor.
Through this association, I was offered full-time work by Electrolux which I
accepted. At the same time, I was doing some part-time bus driving work
with Des’s Buses.
In August
2004, Shelley and I went into a partnership in an IGA Supermarket with
another couple we considered long-term friends. However, they soon turned
into the “partners from hell” so we left the business in Feb 2005.
Electrolux
were gracious enough to re-instate my employment, as were Des’s Buses.
Through my
association with Des’s Cabs, I was offered the chance to join Paramount
Tours as a full time driver in December 2005, so I took it, and that is what
I am currently doing – driving a range of buses (7 seaters to 14 seaters) as
well as “chauffeuring” passengers in late model cars. The work with
Paramount Tours is varied and includes Pacific National rail crew
change-overs, Malaysian Airlines crew change-overs, Qantas crew
change-overs, wine tours, weddings, etc. Most enjoyable work !!
My sons
have been busy expanding their families – my eldest son and his wife Karen
have 5 children, including a set of twin girls, and my youngest son and his
wife Leoni have a daughter – so I am “Pa Nic” to six grandies.
Carmen, my step-daughter, lives and works in Melbourne as a travel
consultant and Mark, my step-son, works for Softwoods Timber.
My wife
and I recently bought an on-site caravan at Port Victoria (a coastal resort
in SA about 2 hrs north of Adelaide) so we have a place to go for some R&R,
and fishing.
I look
forward to catching up with you all on the 28th.
Cheers.
